Vintage instruments require extra care when heat treating. The finishes are usually worn, lifting, chipping, and overall more delicate than a modern finish. Many vintage instruments, especially old Martins don't have truss rods. When heat treating these guitars the string gauge being used is very important. The heavier the string, the more significant the backbow needs to be,so with strings tightened the neck has the proper relief. If your guitar is to be set up with medium strings, we will heat treat the neck to accomodate the extra tension.
