Do We Work on Vintage Instruments?
Vintage instruments require extra care when heat treating. The finishes are usually worn, lifting, chipping, and overall more delicate than a modern finish. The heat treatment process on a vintage instrument takes more time as the finish cannot be allowed to get too hot. There can be an extra cost in repairing a vintage instrument. Instruments with delicate finishes require more time and care. We repair vintage instruments all the time and have a great success rate.

Many vintage instruments, especially old Martins don't have truss rods. When heat treating these guitars the string gauge being used is very important. The heavier the string, the more significant the backbow needs to be,so with strings tightened the neck has the proper relief. If your guitar is to be set up with medium strings, we will heat treat the neck to accomodate the extra tension.

Rest assured that your vintage instrument will recieve the best possible attention and will be playing great after the neck has been straightened. If someone has told you that you need a new neck, refret,or neck reset it probably means they don't undestand how to do a heat treatment to correct the real problem. You can trust us to fix your neck as we have successfully fixed hundreds over the last 15 years.Give us a call today.
